Quarter 3 Review: Reading & Writing

    31 points total · Name: ____________________ Date: __________

    For the adult

Give this review in Week 27, on the day set aside for reading and writing. It samples Weeks 19–27: making inferences, context clues, literal and nonliteral language, who is telling a story, an author's purpose, comparing two texts, the parts of an opinion essay, reasons and evidence, and this quarter's grammar and spelling patterns. It is untimed, and your child needs only a pencil. You may read the directions and questions aloud, but your child reads the story 'The Purple Sign', the two lighthouse texts and the words in Language and Word Study alone, because that reading is part of the check. On own-view questions, any view with a reason earns credit. Do not teach, hint or spell words. Score each section with its scoring note. The result is a snapshot for the quarter report, not a grade.
