What it means for your child

This standard asks children to explain what inflation, deflation and unemployment mean. Third Grade's lessons do not focus on it.

Try it at home

1. Talk about how the price of a favorite snack has changed since you were young.
2. Ask, 'What happens when people who want to work cannot find a job?'
3. Compare old store ads with today's prices.
