What it means for your child

Your child forms and uses possessives, like the cat's tail and the birds' nests.

Try it at home

1. Label family things with possessives: Dad's mug, the dog's bowl.
2. Ask your child to tell the difference between 'bird's' and 'birds'.'
3. Fix a sentence together where the apostrophe is missing.
