MP2: Reason about numbers and quantities.

    Official text

    Reason abstractly and quantitatively.

Math lessons are not tagged with the practice standards, so no weeks are listed.

What it means for your child

Your child learns to move between numbers and what they stand for, like knowing that 4 × 3 in a problem means 4 bags of 3 apples.

    Try it at home

    1. After solving, ask, 'What does your answer mean in the story?'
    2. Ask your child to make up a story that fits a number sentence like 18 ÷ 3.
    3. Ask, 'Is the answer apples, bags or something else?'
