Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.

Math lessons are not tagged with the practice standards, so no weeks are listed.

What it means for your child

Your child learns to notice when the same steps happen again and again and use that to find a shortcut.

Try it at home

1. Skip-count by 9s and ask what happens to the tens and ones digits.
2. Ask, 'What do you notice every time you multiply by 10?'
3. When your child finds a shortcut, ask them to check whether it always works.
