    Math

Oklahoma Academic Standards for Mathematics (OAS-M, 2022)

    State's own standards · adopted 2022

Oklahoma writes its own standards, with codes like 3.N.2.2. Grade 3 goes further than Common Core in place value and in adding and subtracting (to 100,000) and adds money, 3-D shapes, angle types and thermometers. Equivalent fractions, classifying quadrilaterals, and liquid volume and mass wait until Grade 4, and time is read to five minutes.

    English Language Arts

Oklahoma Academic Standards for English Language Arts (2021)

    State's own standards · adopted 2021

Oklahoma's own ELA standards, tested since spring 2024. Grade 3 includes print and cursive (3.2.PC), fact and opinion (3.3.R.6) and literary devices such as personification and hyperbole (3.3.R.4). Some grammar that Third Grade teaches this year, such as complex sentences and subject-verb agreement, is listed in Oklahoma's Grades 4 and 5.

    Science

Oklahoma Academic Standards for Science (OAS-S)

Based on the national science framework · adopted 2026

The state lists a 2020 version and a 2026 update side by side and does not say which is required in 2026-27. Both have the same 15 Grade 3 standards, which match the national science standards and are written with periods (3.PS2.1). The 2026 document adds three Grades 3-5 engineering design standards (G35.ETS1.1 to G35.ETS1.3).

    Social Studies

Oklahoma Academic Standards for Social Studies (2026)

    State's own standards

Grade 3 is Oklahoma Studies: civics, history, geography and economics through the state, including American Indian Nations, statehood, state symbols and state and Tribal government. The state's page links the 2026 standards (codes like 3.C.3.2), but it has not said which school year they become required, and a formal review of them has begun. The 2019 standards number Grade 3 as 3.1.1 to 3.4.3.
