Look: find the unknown
- Finding the total? Multiply. Know the total? Divide.
- 7 × ? = 56 means 7 times what is 56? The answer is 8.
- ? ÷ 5 = 6 means the missing number is 5 × 6, which is 30.

Lost in the Library
On Saturday afternoon, Dev and his dad went to the big library downtown. The rooms smelled like old paper. Dev wandered off to find a dinosaur book. When he looked up, his dad was gone! First, he checked the picture-book room. Next, he searched by the computers. His heart pounded. Then he remembered his dad's words: "If we get split up, go to the front desk." Dev hurried to the desk, and the librarian called his dad's name. A minute later, Dad jogged around the corner with a dinosaur book. "Looking for this?" he asked. Dev laughed and hugged him tight.

I can predict what might happen to a food web when one living thing is removed or the habitat changes.
A Pond Food Web
Pond food web arrows: algae → tadpole, algae → snail, water plants → snail, water plants → duck, tadpole → fish, tadpole → heron, snail → fish, snail → duck, snail → raccoon, fish → heron, fish → raccoon. The sun gives energy to the algae and the water plants.
Cover the snail in the pond web. Predict what happens to each living thing that is linked to it.
