What it means for your child

Your child uses the meaning of the sentence to notice and fix a misread word, rereading when needed.

Try it at home

1. When your child misreads a word, ask, 'Did that make sense?' and let them try again.
2. Model rereading a sentence out loud when you make a mistake.
3. Praise your child when they catch and fix their own mistake.
