3-LS4-3: Explain why some living things survive in a habitat and others do not.
Official text
Construct an argument with evidence that in a particular habitat some organisms can survive well, some survive less well, and some cannot survive at all.
What it means for your child
Your child uses evidence to argue that in a particular habitat some living things survive well, some survive less well and some cannot survive at all.
Try it at home
- Visit a park or backyard and list what lives there and what it needs.
- Ask, 'Could a cactus survive in a pond? Could a fish survive in a desert?'
- Pick an animal that lives near your home and ask, 'Would it survive well, less well or not at all in a desert, a pond or the Arctic? Why?'
